Lobo Nation,

I am sorry for the tardiness of this final newsletter. However, to be brutally honest, I have taken time to sit down several times to write the final newsletter of the 09-10 season and simply could not. It was too hard to muster the words that would try to do justice to the end of the season. The way the season ended was bittersweet. On one hand, seeing the team play at the end of the season was something that I will always remember. We played our best at the end of the season. That is always one of the biggest goals going into any season. We simply found a way to win close games and found a way to do it together. However, what could have been ate at me and the coaching staff as Lakeview Centennial advanced to the State Championship Game. I simply could not bring myself to write Read the rest of this entry »

WOW

16 left standing…

It is hard to believe what has taken place in the past two weeks. So much has happened and some of the things are now running together. The play-in game at Cy-Falls, the delayed Bi-District game against Cedar Park 2OT, the last second shot against College Park that led to overtime and now Monday against The Woodlands leading to OT again. Those games alone and separated over the course of an entire season would be enough to fill a highlight film. However, that has been the life of Lobo in a small span of games. It seems as if each game tops the next somehow!!

What an unbelievable ride it has been!!! Last night is hard to describe if you were not in attendance. The Berry Center was absolutely electric. The weather forced all of the outside sports indoors and as a result created one of the best environments I have ever been a part of Langham Creek. Thanks to all of the support by all of the other sports at Langham Creek!! It seems as if all of the sports were represented in coming out to support the Boys Basketball Program. The rain on Monday will always be remembered by myself as the perfect storm, Read the rest of this entry »

Lobo Nation,

240 Schools had a dream of making it to the post-season…

128 were dancing in the first round…

64 were still playing in the second round…

32 are still standing…

I’m not sure I am smart enough to scribe what last week was like. However, I will do my best, but what will be written is no where close to how exciting the past week was. After surviving a thrilling game against Cy-Falls just to get into the playoffs, the games against Cedar Park and College Park just kept getting better. I have honestly known the entire season that the biggest challenge for our team would be to make it out of the district. If we could make it out, we would be battle tested and would have a chance to advance in the playoffs. As I have told the team numerous times, all you truly want in life is a chance. When the chance presents itself, our lives are often defined by being ready for the opportunity.

The first opportunity came when the Lobos drew the district champion of 16-5A Cedar Park. Going into the game, I knew that it had the opportunity to be an outstanding game! We were seeded 4th in our district, but I do not feel we were a common 4th place team. After studying the film on Cedar Park, I knew they would be alot like Kingwood, Cy-Falls, and Seven Lakes. They played solid man to man defense, would take very few gambles, value the possession on offense, and when we walked away from the game Read the rest of this entry »
