Our Senior softball players have worked very hard on and off the field for the past 12-13 years of their educational careers. The effort has definitely paid off for Varsity Outfielder Brittney Baker.
Brittney Baker has earned a full ride for Leadership and Academics to the University of Houston. Brittney actually earned 3 scholarships: $1,000 from Rotary Club of Bear Creek and Copperfield for her leadership in the Interact Club at LCHS; a partial scholarship from U of H for Academic Excellence; and a full scholarship from the Terry Foundation for Leadership and Academics. Brittney was chosen out of 1000 applicants to become a Terry Scholar.
Great job Brittney!!! Congratulations on your awards and may you succeed in all of your future endeavors!
Lynsi Unruh, our senior Langham Creek softball pitcher has made it official with a commitment to attend Centenary College to play softball.

The Lobo JV softball team waged a hard fought battle to beat the Cy Creek Cougars in an away game. The Lobos jumped to an early lead in the first. Lead off batter Hope Armstrong got on base due to and error by the Cougar first baseman. Chelsey Apostolou brought Armstrong home with a single to left. Courtney Hendley follwoed woth a double for an RBI. Next Kassie Rodriguez drew a walk. Rodriguez stole second then scored on a single by Michaila Fischer. Cy Creek got a run in the bottom of the first and were held in the second. But they exploded for five runs in the third.
Down by two in the fourth Blair Baker led off with a single and scored on a single by Armstrong. Patricia Kraft brought Armstrongin to tie the game. Rodriguez returned to the plate and fouled off five pitches before sending a drive just in side the thrid base line. to bring in Kraft. Michaila Fischer singled into the gap behind second. Gina Galeoto drew a walk and Rodriguez took advantage of Cougar inattention to steal home. Hannah Fischer singled to bring home her sister for the final run. The Lobos held off the Cougars in the bottom of the inning with two strikeouts by Armstrong and an Apostolou to Galeoto force play at second. The Lobo junior varsity ends the season with a record of 8-5-2 in district and 9-6-2 overall.

The Lobo Varsity Softball Team wrapped up the season with a big win over the Cypress Creek Cougars at Cy Creek. The Lobos scored first when Jordan Thompson drew a walk and came home on a single by Jackie Llinas. The bottom of the first put the Lobos in a hole when the Cougars scored four on two out of the park home runs. The Lobos weren’t rattled and in the third showed their own offensive skills. Thompson got to first on an error; Jen Leissner and Lauren Van Ness singled. Next Llinas got on due to an error. Jordyn Anders hits a triple scoring two and Brittney Baker got an RBI. The Lobos scored five to take the lead 6-4.
In the fourth Leissner walked and scored when the Cougar centerfielder couldn’t handle the fly ball put up by Kaylyn Medcalf. In the top of the seventh Van Ness battled at the plate hitting fouls and eventually taking eleven pitches before getting a walk. Anders singled to right. Then Lynsi Unruh put a line drive past the third baseman brining in Van Ness and Anders to stretch the lead to 9-5.
To start the bottom of the seventh Unruh struck out University of Michigan bound Brandi Virgil. The Lobos then gave up two runs on strong hits, but centerfielder Leissner caught her fifth fly ball of the night for the second out and Unruh struck out the Cougar pitcher to finish the game.
The Lobo Junior varsity softball team lost to the Cy Woods Wildcats 7-1. The Lobo hitters were frustrated by the Wildcat pitcher who struck out seven but also walked six batters. Patricia Kraft was responsible for Langham’s line run when she hit a triple and was able to score when Chelsey Apostolou attempted to steal second.
The Lobos kept the pressure on the undefeated and district leading Cy Woods Wildcats. Kaylyn “Pockets” Medcalf got on base in the first and was able to score when Lauren Van Ness hit deep in right for a single. Medcalf singled again in the sixth inning and with aggressive base running moved to third where she was able to score on a passed ball. Pitcher Lynsi Unruh had four strikeouts and the Lobos defense limited the high scoring Wildcats to three runs on six hits.
Langham Creek’s JV softball team beat the Cy Ridge Rams Tuesday night in their last home game of the season. The Lobo bats were led by Michaila Fischer who had a double and drove the ball deep in left for a home run. Shelby Ahquin and Blair Baker went 2-2. Christin Crow and Whitney Posey also added hits for the home team. Fischer also drew the pitching duties and had three strikeouts. She combined with catcher Baker to toss out Rams twice at home plate. Infielder Posey was perfect at first base including tagging out a runner on a bunt. The JV record improved to 7-5-2.

After the ceremonies the seniors added drama to the game letting the Rams take a three run lead in the first. But this team knows how to persevere. Pitcher Lynsi Unruh had 9 strikeouts, no walks and only allowed two hits after the first inning. Batting in the second Unruh was hit by a pitch. Jordan Thompson took her place on the base. Baker singled then Greeson hit a double to score both making it 3-2. The bats were quiet until the fifth when Leissner hit a triple and Poorbaugh hit an RBI single scoring Leissner to tie the game. In the bottom of the seventh with two outs Llinas got a double. Kassie Rodriguez was sent in to run for her. Poorbaugh was next at bat and grounded toward the shortstop. But the throw to first was off the base and Rodriguez was already home to score the winning run.
The Langham Creek Varsity softball team went an extra inning to beat the Cy Lakes Spartans at Lobo Field. The Spartans plated the first run of the game in the third. Inspired by a diving catch by center fielder Jen Leissner which ended the top of the fifth, the Lobos rallied back. Brooke Poorbaugh hit deep into left field for a triple. Brittney Baker was able to bunt her way to first, but Baker was checked at third. Jordyn Anders then hit a sacrifice fly to bring Poorbaugh home. Jordan Thompson put up another sacrifice and Baker scored. Leading by one in the seventh the Lobos looked to have it won when Cy Lakes got only their second hit of the night and were able to score. In the top of the eighth the first Spartan grounded out and then Baker caught two pop flies on the right field line to shut down the Spartans. Kaylyn “Pockets” Medcalf lined a hit to left center for a single. Lauren Van Ness followed with a single to move her to third. Then Jackie Llinas found the same gap and allowed Baker to score the winning run ending the game. Senior pitcher Lynsi Unruh had control of the Spartans with eight strikeouts and allowing only two hits.

The Langham Creek JV softball team beat the Cy Lakes Spartans 9-0 Tuesday night. The Lobos started the scoring in the first inning. Chelsey Apostalou got to first on a fielders choice. Blair Baker was hit by a pitch. Courtney Hendley singled to bring in Apostalou. Baker stole home on a passed ball. Kassie Rodriguez drew a walk. Then Kelsey Jo Jozwiak drove a hit past second to score Hendley. Rodriguez completed the scoring by coming home on a passed ball. In the second inning Apostalou singled and Rodriguez hit a double in to center field. The Lobos continued to be aggressive on the base paths and Hendley, Gina Galeoto and Michaila Fischer also scored bringing the total to five runs in the inning. Pitcher Hope Armstrong had four strikeouts and allowed only two hits. The Lobo defense was strong and was highlighted by an unassisted double play by Christin Crow
