Lobo Nation,

240 Schools had a dream of making it to the post-season…

128 were dancing in the first round…

64 were still playing in the second round…

32 are still standing…

I’m not sure I am smart enough to scribe what last week was like. However, I will do my best, but what will be written is no where close to how exciting the past week was. After surviving a thrilling game against Cy-Falls just to get into the playoffs, the games against Cedar Park and College Park just kept getting better. I have honestly known the entire season that the biggest challenge for our team would be to make it out of the district. If we could make it out, we would be battle tested and would have a chance to advance in the playoffs. As I have told the team numerous times, all you truly want in life is a chance. When the chance presents itself, our lives are often defined by being ready for the opportunity.

The first opportunity came when the Lobos drew the district champion of 16-5A Cedar Park. Going into the game, I knew that it had the opportunity to be an outstanding game! We were seeded 4th in our district, but I do not feel we were a common 4th place team. After studying the film on Cedar Park, I knew they would be alot like Kingwood, Cy-Falls, and Seven Lakes. They played solid man to man defense, would take very few gambles, value the possession on offense, and when we walked away from the game Read the rest of this entry »

Friday night, the Langham Creek Lady Lobo Varsity Soccer team took on Cy Creek in a match where the wind wreaked havoc with the ball. During the first half, Cy Creek had the wind in their favor and the ball stayed on the Lobo side of the field most of the first half, challenging the tough Lobo defense again and again. Cy Creek had several opportunities to score with shots on goal and corner kicks, but the Lobos were up to the challenge. Goalie Danielle Licarione had some GREAT saves and the Lobos held to keep the halftime score at 0-0.

During the second half, the wind died down during long periods, taking away the Lobo advantage that the Cougars enjoyed during the first half. But, again, Lobo defenders Tiffany Titone, Michelle Petarca, Kelley Poblete and Lauren Henry, with help from wings Kelly Satterfield and Emily Castro, stayed tough. And, Danielle Licarione made MORE fantastic saves keeping the Cougars scoreless. With less than 4 minutes to go in the game, the Lobos had an opportunity to score with a corner kick. The wind picked up and Alison Boone kicked the ball with her great powerful leg, and everyone watched it go high and curve perfectly over the Cougar goalie’s hands and into the net! Score LOBOS 1, COUGARS 0! For the last few minutes of the game, the Cougars played very hard against the Lobos, but the Lobos played harder, not letting them score. Final score Langham Creek 1, Cy Creek 0. A HUGE win for the Lobos!

The Lady Lobos have their final home game of the 2010 regular season on Monday, March 1st at 7:00 p.m. against Cy Fair, another team who won against the Lobos when they played earlier in the season. Come support these awesome athletes for their last regular season home game. They have won their last 5 games, so come cheer them on to their 6th consecutive win. District season record to date: 6-2-1.

Greetings Lobo Soccer Supporters,

We close out another tremendous week of LCHS Mens Soccer and quickly get into another week with a Monday kickoff due to TAKS week. Both teams went a combined 4-0 this past week, as they each collected victories over Cy-Ridge and Cy-Creek and continue moving forward into the 2010 season with tremendous success, but have some very competitive matches on the horizon before we can complete the 2010 regular season and look at potential opportunities beyond that.

The JV completed their week with a 2-0 victory over Cy-Creek, pushing their overall record to 11-0-1 and 7-0-1 in District play, and the Varsity recorded a 4-1 victory over the visiting Cy-Creek Cougars pushing their overall mark to 8-1-8 on the season and 5-0-4 in District play. With 4 matches left, both sides are in the drivers seat in determining their final 2010 placement in District 15-5A.

Many have asked, “so where do the Mens Soccer teams stand?” My response is, we dont really stand anywhere, as the only standings that matter are those that come out after the final whistle blows for the 2010 regular season. Currently, our JV can finish anywhere from 7th place to 1st place based on the last 4 games, and our Varsity is in a similar situation, Read the rest of this entry »

The Lobos traveled to The Woodlands to take on the Georgetown Eagles in their season opener and the opening game of the The Woodlands HS Spring Tournament. The Lobos had a rough start to the season, dropping a 7-1 decision to the Eagles.

The Lobos struggled on the mound giving up 12 hits over the 7 inning affair, and the offense did not fare much better collecting only 4 hits off Eagle pitching. Hayden Jones led the way at the plate collecting 2 hits (2B, 1B), while Garrett Juergens added an RBI double and Taylor Hodges collected a single.

As they say you must have a short memory in this game as tournament action continues tomorrow when the Lobos take the field vs Corpus Christi Carroll and Flower Mound. First pitch for game one is scheduled for 5:30pm, once again at Scotland Yard in The Woodlands. Game 2 follows with a scheduled 8pm start.

Come out and support your Lobos as they try to get back on track.

“It’s On” in 2010

A huge congratulations on another successful golf tournament! Out of 103 golfers, Kirby Kramer tied for first place shooting a 78 in the Clements Invitational held at Sweetwater Country Club. Great job Kirby!

The Boy’s Varsity Golf team gave a solid performance, placing 2nd at the Cy-Fair Invitational at Hearthstone Country Club, February 22nd. The tournament included every school in the District, which bodes well for the team, as the District tournament is just around the corner. The performance was led by Michael Hanigan who tied for low medalist, firing a terrific 74 and Andrew Boulet close behind at 77. The team total of 318 was the low score this season.

In the attached photo, from left to right is Sr. Ryan Croft, Jrs. Connor Bertlshofer, Andrew Boulet, Logan White, Michael Hanigan and Coach Rangel. A special thanks to Coach Rangel, who has brought a new intensity and commitment to the team in his first year at the helm.

The Top Junior Varsity players participated in the Woodlands tennis tournament on Wednesday February 24.

Winning for the Lobos were:

  • Phi Nguyen and Logan Patton won first place in doubles
  • Matt Wheeler won first place in boys singles
  • Doubles team of Christina Tremel and Sydney Denman won consolation
  • Andrew Bradley won consolation in boys singles
  • Also Ina Elevant won 3rd place in the Cy Fair tournament last week.

Next week, on either March 2, March 4, or March 5, the same members of the JV team will play in the two Varsity Tournaments. The 9th graders and the rest of the JV team not playing in the varsity tournaments will play in the Klein tennis tournament on Thursday March 4.
