“Thank you” to all of the Lobo Nation that was in attendance last night for a historic night for the Boy’s Basketball Program. The win over Cy-Springs means that the Lobos clinched a share of the district title for the first time since 1987-88. The win was also historic, because it matched the highest win total in the history of Langham Creek Basketball, 26 wins. It was a thrilling night to be a Lobo!!
So where do we go from here? This morning in the playoff meeting, the Lobos won the first seed from district 17-5A. As a result of that, the Lobos will play the fourth place team from 18-5A. There is currently a tie between Aldine and Hastings for fourth place. Friday night Aldine and Hastings will play to see who advances as the fourth seed. Based on the results of that game, we will know our playoff opponent, game site, time, and date.
If Aldine wins Friday, the Bi-District Championship game will be:
Langham Creek vs Aldine at Atascosita – Tuesday 2/21 at 7pm
or
If Hastings wins Friday, the Bi-District Championship game will be:
Langham Creek vs. Hastings at Cy-Falls – Tuesday 2/21 at 7pm
All game tickets will be $3 for students and adults. Thanks again to everyone who came out to the game!!! Our work is not done and we will need your support to see where the journey leads us. We will need your support!!!
See you in the stands,
Coach Ament
Lobo Nation:
As I sit in front of the computer writing the next installment of the season, it is hard to believe the end of the district season has only one game left. The message to our kids has been “Our work is not done!” The Varsity has not played 33 games against one of the most exhaustive schedules I have ever put into place for a team. The sub-varsity teams have faced challenges in cutbacks of tournaments and teams throughout the region and state. But it is simply a long season when you stop to think it all started officially Oct 27, 2011.
Where did it all go? Yet there is still so much to accomplish. One final game Tuesday in district and the road can lead so many different directions. A win secures a share of the District title, assuming Cy-Falls beats Cy-Fair, for the first time since 1986-87 season. That season the Lobos also set a school record of 26 wins and went undefeated in district. With one more win Tuesday night against Cy-Springs, the team could post a tie for the most wins in the school’s history of 28 years.
The sub-varsity teams are also experiencing great seasons as the JV team has also secured part of the district title and can win it outright with a win on Tuesday. The Freshmen A Team boasts a 10-2 record and will finish Continue reading
LADY LOBO BASKETBALL:
The varsity girls’ basketball ended their season with an amazing win last night, beating Cy-Fair in overtime by 2 points! This win kept the Bobcats from advancing to playoffs in the fourth place. The Lobos were led by Corinne Martin who put up a career high of 16 points and pulled down 8 rebounds. Caylinne Martin had a double double with 10 points and 15 rebounds; Adrianna Edwards stepped up and scored 7 crucial points for the Lobos. Mercedes Busby handled the point guard position with dominance and poise adding 9 assists, 3 rebounds, and 4 points.
What an amazing way to end the season, congratulations ladies!
Last night the lady lobos junior varsity basketball team, finished out their season with a good fight against the Bobcats. The lady lobos kept it close in the 1st half; however, the Bobcats started to pull away during the second half. The lady lobos fell short, losing 28-41. Leading scorers were Ascension Henderson with 8 points and Nicole Doolittle with 7 points and 9 rebounds. Tough defense was added by Tessa Van Heuvln, Colleen Barber, Cindy Vu, and Niana Hammond. Good season ladies!
